In 2019, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary working in Bulgaria. Over the years, we have expanded our partnership network, reached thousands of children and families, and brought our Element of Play® Learning Spaces, Music, and Storytelling programs to some of Bulgaria’s most vulnerable communities. We have also facilitated training and professional development throughout our network of partners, ensuring the use of play as a key element supporting early childhood development.

CURRENTLY SERVING

PROGRAMS IN BULGARIA
Element of Play®
In Bulgaria today, there are still (millions of) children and families living in poverty, isolation and deprivation. One of the big challenges for families is having access to quality services for their child’s education and healthcare in the early years.
We work to support parents and their children by building the capacity of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) professionals in our network. By training partners in our Element of Play® theory, concepts and programs, we are improving parent and child relationships and the quality of early childhood services across Bulgaria.
Skills Development
We work diligently to enhance the capacity of adults involved in caring for and working with children and families. We do this by facilitating trainings, conducting ongoing professional development, and updating manuals and curriculum to reflect best practices and to provide tools that can easily be used by teachers, care providers, and parents. We also work at the national level on advocacy and policy– participating in the National Network of Children, hosting discussions on issues facing Roma and refugee children and their families, and as experts in the field, participating and advising on the Practice and Legislative Framework for Early Childhood Development in Bulgaria.
