On May 16, 2022 WWO launched our Element of Play® Learning Spaces, Music, and Storytelling programs to children and families in Ukraine. We are working with children and families from Lviv and many families who have fled their war-torn homes to find safety.
We are currently delivering programming in Lviv, Chernivtsi and Storozhinets.
Ukrainian families are being housed in schools and in factories in Ukraine. These buildings have bomb shelters and provide some added protection but are not meant to house so many people. Our programs are meant to provide a safe and structured play space for children and their caregivers to find a moment to breathe, connect and laugh. Our Element of Play® program has fit seamlessly into this difficult environment. We have adapted the daily lessons to match the toys and play materials that we received as a generous donation from the UNICEF Early Childhood Development kits.

PROGRAMS IN UKRAINE
Element of Play®
WWO works with communities to ensure children are protected and engaged. Through our trauma informed, evidence-based Element of Play® program, children are introduced to safe and structured learning through play methodology that builds their social and executive function skills. WWO ensures children are seen, connected to the community, and therefore can be protected. When children have access to quality early learning activities and feel safe and connected, these activities have the power to mitigate the negative effects of poverty, toxic stress, and trauma on their early childhood development.

SUPPORT UKRAINIAN CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES
Our innovative programming breaks down stigma and builds critical life skills for marginalized children to thrive. When children learn to overcome challenges, they make tremendous progress in becoming strong, successful adults. Your gift will ensure children, families and communities in Ukraine are able to play, learn and thrive.
