Element of Play®

In Bulgaria, programming consists of two parts: Element of Play® and Skills Development. The first part includes the Element of Play® Learning Space, with music and storytelling programs, and the second offers EOP® Program training for professionals and parents.

In Bulgaria today, there are still (millions of) children and families living in poverty, isolation and deprivation. One of the big challenges for families is having access to quality services for their child’s education and healthcare in the early years.

WWO works to support early childhood development in Bulgaria by building capacity with community-based partners working in the field of family and childcare. There are six target groups where Element of Play® programs and partnerships are implemented:

  • Children in residential care institutions

  • Children in kindergartens

  • Children living with disabilities

  • Refugee children

  • Children in hospitals

Skills Development

WWO works to enhance the capacity of professionals involved in caring for and working with children and families. This is done through; facilitating trainings, conducting ongoing professional development, and updating manuals and curriculum to reflect best practices and to provide tools that can easily be used by teachers, care providers, and parents. WWO Bulgaria works at the advocacy and policy level as well – participating in the National Network of Children, hosting discussions on issues facing Roma and refugee children and their families, and as experts in the field, participating and advising on the Practice and Legislative Framework for Early Childhood Development in Bulgaria.
