WWO has been serving in Ben Tre since 2016 with our Early Childhood Development program for more than 200 children living with disabilities. In August 2022 upon request from CDC Ben Tre, we expanded our scope and conducted the First SeriousFun Camp for children living with serious illnesses and their families.
The Family Weekend was back-to-back with a Training for 10 camp makers from the CDC Ben Tre staff base. Immediately after the training, all participants became shadows for WWO Camp Colors of Love Leadership Team in various roles. The Family Weekend hosted 23 campers and 17 caregivers, most of them are grandparents (who stepped in to fill the place of parents who either passed away or left the household). After the screening tests, campers and their siblings were welcome by Camp Colors of Love team in their funny costumes.
Four groups of campers rotated through four stations: Are you better than 2nd grader? Family photo session; Making a frame with your caregivers; Write your wishes on a paper plane and send it away.
The caregivers got together with our Dr Oanh and our CDC partner staff to talk about their concerns and to receive advice from our team about how to take care of their kids and themselves. They also learned about access to service providers and social welfare. At the end of that Sunday, campers and their caregivers left with their hearts full and a lot to look forward to, as they all knew that this is just the beginning of a new journey, when WWO and CDC will walk with them to address their needs. We will meet again in 2023 spring to catch up with campers’ progress and prepare for the summer residential camp with more fun and excitement!

Thank you, Serious Fun Children’s Network, for your support!
